Malaysian Hindu Students ‘forced’ to shave their facial hair!

Well, after reading this article as well as the different version(s) of the article in other blogs, I decided to give my very own point-of-views pertaining to it. First and foremost, welcome to Malaysia everyone, Truly Asia. Gone are the days when Malaysia could proudly uplift its so-called ‘racial understandings’ or ‘racial unity’ amongst its rakyat. Nowadays, certain barbaric Malaysian teachers have started to show off their talent in torching some racial issues in schools despite knowing the consequences they are about to face. For instance, a few weeks back, there was the ‘songkok made compulsory‘ issue in which all the prefects in that particular school (Johor) were to wear ‘songkok’ as part of their school uniform and the best part is, it is compulsory! And now, comes another racial-inclined issue! What the hell is going on with these people?

As mentioned in the article, six Hindu boys were forced to shave their beard and moustache. The students were growing it as part of a ritual for the Thaipusam festival. School rules is at one side and religion rules is at one side. Even though both might overlap each other, but both of the rules should be balanced, in order to avoid any clashes from occurring. In this case, most of the schools do not allow their students to grow their moustache and/or beard but when it comes to religion, especially when the students have their solid reason for keeping them, then the school authorities should understand this and if they really do respect one’s religion, they should have given the green light!

Some of my friends went to National Service training a few years back and most of them tend to lie to the trainers, saying that they must keep their hair / moustache / beard long as they had been “praying” and been involved in some sort of “rituals” in which they have to keep their facial hairs. Most of their statements were directed to deaf ears, while only some of them were granted and had been asked to come up with a letter signed by some higher authorities for their ‘special privilege’ to be enforced. These kind of lies had given a bad impression to other races in such a way that they would think Indians would use whatever racial-related-excuses to escape themselves from certain situations.

Then what would happen to those real devotees? For sure the same impression would be poured out to these devotees!
