Kuruvi – My Personal Review
I have just came back after watching the latest Vijay’s movie titled “Kuruvi” and I gotta say that I have wasted 3 hours of my life just by watching that stupid movie. No offence to all those Vijay’s die-hard fans but seriously, this movie is a big disappointment for me. The songs are nice, especially the theme song and the “Happy New Year” song, and I shall assume that you all know the reason!
Basically, the movie starts with Vijay being involved in a car racing scene (you could see the car’s front bonnet and the doors flying apart and at the end, the car would be projectiling to reach the finish line! Finally, there comes our winner!). In the second half, we could see Vijay flying to Malaysia, trotting here and there (fighting in the O*Range club, running like nobody’s business at KLIA and etc) and finally, he flies back to India in order to save his father who is trapped with a bunch of other ‘slaves’ in a mining place. In the midst of a serious situation, we could see some stupid expressions and not forgetting, songs popping out in the middle of nowhere. Trisha’s role in that movie is like a dumb-ass, the same ‘rich girl’ falling for an ‘unknown guy’ and later going around finding for him from one place country to another. Duh! Ohh and Vivek’s role is as usual, being together with the hero all most of the time!
At one part, Vijay would be sneaking into the villain’s laptop, going through his secret files and seriously, I have no bloody idea what kind of ‘file’ was it! Then, he would be attaching those ‘files’ and send it via GMAIL to the police! Oh, did I just mentioned GMAIL? Nothing to be stressed here but I found that particular scene to be funny, after relating it with Vijay’s characteristics and background in that movie.
One more thing is the continuous usage of “LA“, the Malaysian talking slang. It is true that WE, the Malaysians, would frequently use la in our daily conversations but in this movie, the usage of la does not make sense at all! It is very obvious that the la doesn’t tally with the situation. For instance, there is one part where as one of the actress would say “Thanks la“. Thanksla? WTFla?
Some other unbearable facts extracted from this movie:
There are many other reasons on why I think this movie deserves a thumbs down but I do not wish to list them here one by one as it might spoil some of those individual’s mood who are eagerly waiting to watch that movie.
For me, this movie is a disappointment and Vijay disappointed me once again!
I shall wait for the release of Dasavatharam!

thank god…. i listened 2 my instinct and didnt go watch the movie…. saved 10 bucks n my precious 3 hours… im also waiting for dasavadharam….
Its not a complete wash out., of course it is not in the expected lines.
But Vijay has done all the hard work for this movie.
Lets wait and see and i still hope that this will not be Aadhi and will be a average hit
I don’t like the movie either. That’s the different story. However, I don’t see anyone comments such negatively about Sivaji(movie) where Rajini does all the unrealistic stunts and much more. Why pick on poor vijay on heroism?

Guys, i saw this movie as well, wat can i say—> its an expected movie, storyline, stunts, songs, dance, heroic act, heroins glamour, dialogues…… we cant be expecting vijay to do a movie like anbesivam or mudhalvan.. Kuruvi is 100% catered for him. Accept it, or just leave it. As for me, i ONLY enjoyed the dance, songs and the comedy scenes. Waiting for Dasavatharam eagerly !
final word….movie teruklah….most of vijay action looks comedy for me..haha

i watched this movie a week ago….i’m not gonna say i wasted 10bucks coz i expected 2… if it is not bcoz of viveks jokes n yogi b feat.song i wouldnt have watch it…this movie should b a fullstop 4 fans expecting him 2 b the next rajnikanth and after another physics defying stunts….he should b the next one and only VIJAYKANTH….

“Vijay’s introduction. ‘Flying’ from the underground drainage hole, forcing the hole cap to open and landing on the ground in slow-motion.
“Jumping from on top of a building to reach the railway track on the far opposite side of the building.
“Fighting scenes. Vijay would be fighting with the bad guys inside a club in Malaysia, where as a punch throws one of the villains far away and a kick sends another villain to hell !!!!

yes i walked out of the cinema yesterday while the movie was goin on..such a dumb movie ..which does not make sense at all…stupidest movie of the year ..believe me im a vijay fan but after watching his last few movies…..im now beginning to be his ex fan ..waitting for dasavatharam

When Priyamanavaleh comes, i like him.
I know VJ is 1 of good actor and not take him as my fav hero on that time.
Then the following movies all when i see, not satisfy with his movie stories all. And then i start analysis with other some good hero.
Now i am some other hero’s fans. And not VJ.
He spoil his image with his own proud. He dont have creative and any plan to do some different story or any script which can always influence his FANS. But he depand on his director and bla bla bla…
How about other’s? Some top hero’s can make different storys, roles and get-up’s all. Why VJ dont?
Even the new commer, VISHAL now become more famour and popular. His acting and his choise on story are very perfect.
I dont know what to say, after watching this ‘no motive’ movie KURUVI.

I agree all of u guyz..i’ve never been a fan of vijay, bt just liked sum of his movies like ghilli n sivakasi..they wer cool..bt this movie totally sucks!! Guess what? I watchd it on da 1st day–1st show..grr..knw somethng? Aftr dis dumb movie, vijay is spending his ‘holidays’ in US.. Think he deserves it? (Personally, i dnt thnk he atleast deserves 2 b in da film industry after aathi, atm n nw this)..
I’m waiting 4 dasavadharam, kandhasamy and aegan..(i hope they dnt do a ‘kuruvi’ n flop)

This is my review:
Kuruvi was an “OK” movie.. not that great, I agree, But I find it a lot more entertaining than Dasavatharam! Thats right… A LOT more entertaining.
It’s funny how this blog is filled with hating comments towards Vijay.. for sure I know i’m not the only one on Vijay’s side… Do you like delete comments that are against you and keep the comments that are hating on Vijay? Like i don’t get that.
kuruvi was really thrilling in the 2nd half and entertaaining in the 1st half.
only 1 minus point:there are a few thinks which are total nonsense
this is the cronological order of my emotions while watching kuruvi
