The ‘Friendster’ized Malaysian Indians!
Before I proceed further, this post will be focusing on how Malaysian Indians’ teenagers are stuck with Friendster, a social networking site. If you don’t know anything about Friendster or are curious to know more about it, well, you are free to either ignore or stick with this post. It’s your call!
First and foremost, I too, like others, have a Friendster account. Let me stress it again, A Friendster account. Now, let me decipher some of the ‘things’ that I found to be stupid enough when relating it with Malaysian Indians users.
1) Primary Photo Display
For god’s sake, It’s your profile, It’s your account and obviously, you should be putting your picture(s) in it, and not some rip-off images from Indiaglitz or Behindwoods! Usually, Indian girls would prefer to do this kind of stuff, where as they would love to upload tons and tons of celebrity images taken from the web, and the common preys would be Asin and Trisha. I had enough of seeing these two faces comprising most of the said “Indian girls Friendster users” who are reluctant to put their own picture. And, for those Indiaglitz rippers, have you noticed the Copyright note at the bottom which says the following?

2) Primary Photo Display - The Caption
Allright, you might give some excuses saying that you don’t have any camera phones or digital cameras or normal cameras or whatever. Fine! But, what’s up with those captions of Asin’s or Trisha’s photo saying It’s meeeee!!! or a picture of Surya with the caption my hubby!!! Don’t you think that sounds childish? If Jothika’s sees that, she could file a lawsuit against you, mind you!
3) Camwhoring
The most annoying thing in Friendster would be camwhoring! One static position of yourself caught from various angles ranging from 45° to 180° won’t do anything good, rather than disappointing those guys in wanting to see various photos of yourself, and not various ANGLES of one particular photo of yours! Please do consider this in future!
4) Profile design
Do you think 5 Youtube videos, a flash music player, 4 bandwidth-consuming images and not forgetting, 4 flash games in your profile would draw visitors to your profile? Certainly not! Either their browser would be crashed or they would scroll halfway and quit viewing your profile. Some examples of those bandwidth-consuming images would be those “bling-bling” images, “glitter” images and so and so. Ohh, and some images showing texts such as “I’m too hot” or “Gorgeous Girl” and so and so. I’m not condemning you (Am I?) for putting these images but please think from a visitor’s perspective by considering the amount of videos, flash games and streaming audios to be included in your profile. Even my browser had crashed several times just because of a person’s heavy-loaded profile.
5) Popularity
XXX FuLL, XXX FuLL 2, XXX NEW … Are they familiar to you? Well, this simply shows that the person ‘XXX’ is more interested in gaining inner popularity, and they believe by having more friends and/or testimonials, they would be well-known! Congrats for their great mentality! I don’t even think they would have at least, messaged or keep in touch with 100 friends in their ‘friends’ list since the beginning until now or correct me If I’m wrong! Friendster is a social networking site and you should socialize thyself by sending messages, keeping in touch often and greeting them from time to time. That is the exact definition of ’social networking’ and not by adding a person just for the sake of having more friends. If you are one of those who loves to keep in touch, well, a big salute to you!
6) Names and details
When it comes to names, obviously you should be putting your name. But why the hell I could see some idiots noobs self-proclaiming themselves to be Cute Princess, Lovely Baby, BabyGurl, CutieGal, GorgeousGal, PinkyHot and all those retarded names? I’m now considering to change my name to something like “MachoGuy” or “CoolHotGuy” and I shall wait and see the amount of messages flowing into my inbox, if and only if that name plays a big role in driving more visitors to my profile!
And, when it comes to profile details, or to be specific, the “About Me” and “Who I Want To Meet” section, sOme oF tHe nOObs tEnD t0 wriT3 LyK d!s N tHuS, mAk1nG u$ sICk 0f r3ADInG tHeIr sEntEncE$! In addition, they would love to spice up their sentences with their badly-broken english! No offence!
Lastly, adhering back to Point 1, please take your precious time to view the Friendster’s Photo Policy:
We suggest you upload a high-quality photo of yourself that is both clear and current. Get as creative as you like! But please do not upload photos containing nudity or copyrighted images such as celebrity photos or illustrated cartoon characters. Photos depicting gore or hateful themes are also not permissible.
I know there are more than a million users who have tons and tons of celebrity images uploaded into their account but do take note, a single click at the link which says Report Offensive Content could make your profile to be flagged and would be subjected for removal/suspension/banning.
And, please don’t tarnish our names and let others think that “Indians are stupid enough for not reading and adhering to the rules“!
*I’m just expressing my point-of-views and not in the intention of offending or hurting anyone. I believe there are many people who are not included in the lists above and my utmost respect shall be with you!

You know some people will put a total slutty image of themselves as the primary pic and they will have this part where they say ” I hate some *ss h*les that adds unknown strangers”.. That is annoying.. And, some guys who puts pic of all the liquor in the world and them being wasted.. That’s is dumb also..

it looks more like you’re viewing some porn website instead of some legal social networking website! sadly, most of these profiles have all been indian boys. Its preety sad because nowadays when my friends look at any indian guys on the road, somehow, they tend to past some nasty comments about them and the way they’re dressed up. they get this statement that every indian guy is cheap and disgusting just by viewing some ugly profiles on friendster! thats not fair!

The “pictures containing nudity are not allowed” part refers to pictures that have been uploaded, and not inclusive of those “comments” images. Though I have seen some ‘dirty’ comments, but I’m yet to see any nude pictures being uploaded into one’s account!

I agree with your claims and your views you have shared, but you must agree that you are being sexist and your article is stereotyped on Indians alone. I did notice almost all the girls under ‘that’ category is mainly Tamils of our community but you must also admit that our Chinese, Malays and other races does the very same thing.. and mostly girls, admittedly.
To correct those of you who might be thinking I’m contradicting myself, I pledge for you to open your eyes to a wider scope of those non-Indian users. I could be wrong but most of the above posts seems to come from people who rarely opens or even come across other race s’s profile. There are guys and girls(other race) with profile picture of Hollywood and China mainland (Wat-wood??) based celebrity pictures and not forgetting irksome names and captions.
I am not proclaiming war of mouth and what not on other races, my request here is we shouldn’t be sexist and stereotype on a certain race and bash on them for a year. And fellow guys who keeps on posting ‘Tats rit’ ‘gals r dumb’ and all that, try surfing tro’ and you will notice Vikram(M cool!!), Surya(I hv Steel Body), Vijay(Kuruvi aditchaaa…) and more craps cropping out from fellow guys. those in brackets are what I often notice to be either Nicknames or Captions.
So, overall teenagers(to be honest, I’ve never seen adult’s profile as such) need to act more mature. And to Subashini, I totally agree with you that most of the Malaysian user’s are the one crapping around with plagiarized material from Indiaglitz n whatsoever…

Well, as you said, I gotta agree that my article is skewed more to the Indian girls compared to “Indians” alone but overall, “siapa yang makan cili, dia yang rasa pedasnya!”
As for the chinese, malays and/or other races, I have neither mentioned anything about them being obedient nor condemned them as being disobedient, as I hardly surf profiles of other races and I have no reason on why I should include them in this article, as the core purpose of this article is to be an eye-opener to the Malaysian Indians teenagers specifically!
