No more Tamil dramas from India on TV2?

Adopted from TheStar (31/5):Malaysia Nanban reported that the Information Ministry had decided to ban the screening of Tamil dramas from India over TV2.
MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said that the decision to ban such dramas was surprising as it was the only country that produced Tamil dramas for Malaysian viewers.
He said that the MIC secretary general and Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr. S. Subramaniam raised the matter at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting.
What the heck! At a first glimpse, I thought that TV2 won’t be showing Tamil dramas at all, but luckily a second re-view made me to realise that they were actually banning Tamil dramas from India. Allright, fine! But anyhow, a tamil drama is still a tamil drama and why is the need of this sudden stupid move? Who suggested this anyway?
Or, is it some sort of a mutual agreement between TV2 and ASTRO to make more Indians to subscribe to ASTRO’s packages? As you can see, I won’t be bragging around on how bad our local dramas are, or comparing it with dramas from India as sometimes, I do enjoy both of them.
I do understand that most of the dramas are based on husband/wife issues, siblings issues, love issues, and all the other social-related issues as these are the only things they would keep on portraying again and again, under different names and different actors/actress. Would that contribute as a factor to ban dramas from India, as they have been influencing our “minds badly” and “lately”? Or, is this move meant to pave way for local Tamil dramas to be interjected more so that our local Tamil drama industry would ‘grow up’ a little? If so, then SAY IT!
Just Imagine the fate of those who can’t afford to subscribe to ASTRO as they could only rely on locally produced dramas as well as dramas from India as their main source of entertainment aired on local channels, excluding those Tamil movies. Don’t you think it’s kinda boring to see the same local faces acting again and again? At least some Tamil dramas from India have a quite number of new faces to be exact.
So what’s next, banning Tamil movies from India on local channels?

Hello brother!
Well, it might be as you said. Anyway, all we could do now is wait for the reason on why such move has to be done by our government.
