Help Tamil schools - A plan by Indian Undergraduate Students

Tamil Schools

The PLAN is a simple system to collect cash from students to help those Tamil schools. The Idea is to save up 33cents per day and to bank in the money in a account managed by three people.

The money would be then used to help Tamil schools of their infrastructure ONLY. This objective would be changed prior the accomplishment of the first objective and having the approval of the management team.

There are 4 departments to run this plan. They are the management, accounts, information and strategic planning unit. The information department is lead by UTP and the rest whereas the strategic planning unit is headed by UPSI and the rest. The management would oversee the whole operation and the accounts as well. 3 members of the management would be opening a joint account and that account would be used to collect the money.

Adopted from SLC - The Plan’s site

The one who initiated the above plan were not from any political parties, but are Indian Undergraduate students! You heard that right!

At the recent Student Leadership Convention 2008 held in UM, our fellow Indian undergraduate student leaders from all public institutions as well as certain private institutions met up and actively discussed about this plan.

Adhering back to the first paragraph above, the “33cents” per day, which eventually would turn out to be RM9.90 (or round it up to RM10) within a month’s time, would be subjected to be banked in to an account which belongs to the person(s)-in-charge and that money, together with other contributions from other sources, would be used to buy table and chairs for Tamil schools that have been known to be in a deteriorative condition.

Currently, the plan about “The Plan”, the bank account number and the main representative of each states have been posted at the official “SLC - The Plan” site (blog), so to all of you out there, feel free to surf that site (blog) and explore it thoroughly.

My piece of advice to “The Plan” management team. Maintain your transparency throughout this plan and keep on updating the public with the latest happening pertaining to “The Plan” and be prepared to answer the most common question people would ask you: What have you did so far using those money?

Let us do this small effort to help our brothers and sisters in Tamil schools to have proper tables and chairs to study. A small effort by us can change their life and future.

All the best and cheers!

As much as I laud this effort, I’ve heard from a very reliable source that the group that manages this fund has mismanaged funds from the program previously and are still doing it.

Knowing this, it’s seriously giving me the creeps. And no, I’m not being the crab.

To my fellow Indian, Praveen R., I’m a student from a well known public university and also involve in this project. To be frank, the group that manages this fund has not done nothing wrong.. We are doing it in a very professional manner and the whole process is done transparently. I’m sure u are not the crab in this case but your ‘reliable source’ might be one. Reality check. I was a skeptic as u are right now but after witnessing the whole process being carried out without any mismanagement, then i concluded that this is gonna be a helluva plan. Two thumbs up for ‘THE PLAN’ team members and to my dear Praveen R. , please no hard feeling.. This just my 2 cents worth piece of mind.. Peace put..

‘The Plan’ by SLC is actually a desperate call to all the indian undergraduates as a result of frustration of our society leaders who had failed to reach out to the Tamil Schools. Many of us are still oblivious of the current conditions of Tamil Schools in Malaysia. From being located on a cemetery to be situated next to a pub, the Tamil Schools have been deprived of its basic infrastructure needs.

My friend, who had taught Mathematics in a Tamil School in Selangor, came home almost in tears for she said that she couldn’t even draw a complete cirle on the blackboard because the blackboard had numerous holes and was broken in many corners.
Isn’t it ironic to find Malays Schools in Malaysia with elevators and projectors in classrooms?

This is the sad reality in Malaysia. In the blueprint of Vision 2020, there is no contemplation of Tamil Schools in it (from an unknown source). Therefore, let us stop lamenting and pointing fingers to our politicians, bussinessmen and organisations to save our society when we students can do it.

For the betterment of our brothers and sisters, this is the least we can do. They deserve their schools amenities. I am a committee of The Plan and if you are all Indians, you will be a part of it too.

It’s a good idea and warmly welcomed to initiate.

      But.

Don’t end up like tsunami fund or worst Maika story.

      Dear Praveen R.

Please do not mind me asking. Since your source is reliable, can you please name your source. If they are talking facts i guess they should be able to name themselves. If they do not allow them to be named, you should be able to rationalise. There are still some crabs left in our community, i x mean u, cz i ustan ur jz givin ur POV, im saying ur source might be one. It is our responsibility to change our community to not be crabs. So, if they are true, name them and we shall really find out. But if they’re lying, they’ll have their reputation on the line. It will be a lesson for others nt to show crab attitude.

Nothing personal, my motive is for the betterment of our community. Peace :p

I gotta agree with some of the commentators here. If the ‘very reliable source’ that Praveen R. has mentioned could come here and give his/her factual evidences, it would make things much clear.

Transparency should bring confidence towards your movement , The Plan. Defending and word by mouth is not going to help up.

Prove towards the few crabs that you think still roaming in our society today that whatever you’re doing is for real.

Shut the mouth of the few who tries to find err in your plan by giving justification.

As I said earlier, Good Move with a great plan.

Whatever the big “PLAN” is…… i hope Transparency is there 2 prevail……

      Dear Mr Praveen.R,

I think your reliable source is either unreliable or knows nothing about this project. If you don’t want to donate its ok.. What ever it is, I have heard about this project and its for a good purpose. We should support these students and I do support this project whole heartedly. Go ahead boys… GOD will be with you always.

in my P.O.V..this the biggest problem in the indian community…’these’ indians can’t see other indians doin something good for their OWN community…all ‘these people’ can do is just sit…do nothing about it…and complain and complain

AND when someone comes up, taking the risk, time n energy to come up with a solution….all ‘these people’ can do is just find mistakes or spread rumours without knowin the truth and the purpose..

my piece of advice for ‘these people’…help if you want…if not…don’t stop others from helping!

to the team…keep up the good deed and we will always support THE PLAN

Quote : “…….the group that manages this fund has mismanaged funds from the program previously……” - praveen

Well …maybe you should “expose” more about the previous “program” that we have “mismanaged” the funds ..hey exposing that wouldn’t put your reliable source in deep shit rite ?
