Omnekutty, will you marry me?

I was bored. Since I was bored, I decided to dig some of my old posts incase of any follow-up arguments that I may have missed. The only post which made me to ‘dig’ further was the “Inter-racial minded Malaysian Indians” post. My hands were so damn itchy and I tend to be busybody at times, which made to trace back this Malayalam peeps and what they were up to currently. Surprisingly, I managed to sneak in to some of the “MALAYALEES ONLY!!!” groups in Friendster and out of a few which I went through, only this discussion topic caught my attention:

Malayalam

I believe you all could read the texts shown in the above picture. To summarise things up, what that fella is ‘worried’ about is that why Malayalee girls tend to seek their life partner from different ethnics, such as those of Tamils, Telugus and so forth instead of finding ‘within’ their ethnic? If you guys would have noticed, he kept on mentioning about “Indians guys…” and “mixed Indians…” which made me to wonder in which freaking category does Malayalam falls into? I thought Malayalee is a subset of “Indians” and so do Tamils, Telugus and etc. But for him, Malayalees and Indians are two different entities!

Alright, let’s pause that question for a while and we shall look at what our fellow Malayalees would have replied. Sad to say that nearly all the replies were boring, or should I say neutral replies as I was expecting them to bash those other ethnics for being whatever, whatever and whatever. Now, from that statement itself, I would be expecting some hatred comments saying that I’m poking fun at those Malayalees and ridiculing their so-called attitude. Whatever hoo-has it may be, just bring it!

Malayalam

Oops, I forgot to mention that I came across a biased reply! Just have a look at what our cechi has responded. According to her, ‘practically’ Malayalee girls and boys are fair and some of the Malayalee brothers and sisters are dark a bit. Seriously, I don’t understand a shit what she is crapping about. And, what she is trying to say here? Just because those Malayalee girls and boys are fair, does that mean that they should be destined together? Ohh and another thing cechi, it should be “point of view” and not “point of you” as you have mentioned in your post.

I’ve even came across some replies stating that their culture should be preserved, mother-tongue should be mastered and some even mentioned that Malayalees are much more highly educated and with ‘high moral value’. Come on lar, you people are talking as if Malayalees and other Indian ethnics here IN MALAYSIA are scattered with their very own over-exaggerated culture, tradition and mentality. Do take note that most of our culture and whatever-shit-we-are-doing in our daily life in this country overlap with each other!

Without scenarios, it would be boring! Do you agree?

Question: Makkez, if you like a girl, would you give a damn about her ethnicity?
Makkez: I DON’T GIVE A PHUCK! I like her and she likes me and that’s it. Period.

Question: Makkez, if you like a girl, would you give a damn about her ethnicity?
Racist Makkez: Yes. She needs to be X, and she must be fair. Both of us have to keep alive our tradition and culture and preserve our mother-tongue as well. We would ONLY watch movies acted by Mammooty and Mohan-LaL and our MOST favorite dish would be X Payasam. And rest assured that my mobile phone would ONLY contain MMS clips by those of Sheila Nair.

*X = Anything

And last but not least, check out what our topic starter gotta reply:

Malayalam

I would be dittoing some of his sentences. “Please put a leg forward for our future generation. Don’t let it been ruin by others”. DID I JUST HEARD SOMEONE SAYING THE WORD “OTHERS”?

*Anticipating eagerly for some hatred comments.
*This article may be deemed as sensitive by some. Well, “Certified M1″ explains it all!

perhaps these guys should be given a proper lesson in social caste systems, just to enlighten their mis-informed minds. I’ve noticed that such caste-based sentiments arise from the older generation’s unrelentless beliefs.

Sadly these younger generations have the IQ of a frog, thus making them unable to learn such advanced knowledge. But then again, perhaps they should be having our foot up their asses for being so caste-centric

malayaleez are very famous for their….. “running” around “others” and once they done…they will marry one nice malayalee (either arranged or love)…if you have been to kerala - ull see more than half are dark skinned. and malayalee too have their own caste….and the best part is those from the lower caste acting like they are above all the tamils.

and WTF said kounders are highest in Tamil caste ?

we are talking bout building 1 nation 1 race bangsa malaysia and these pathetic racist hypocrite (bagi yang berkenaan shj) talkin bout ketuanan malayalatan (just like that chedet mama). and dont worry Indians (malayalatan included)….we will be the last group to unite as we are divided by religion, race, caste (and sub-cast),belief and so on.

    38. Avatar JGirl February 23rd, 2010 at 5:47 am

Of malayalee background too, and I agree some of the views of SOME malayalees is absolutely ridiculous. If you don’t speak the language, you are disrespecting your culture, you buy a pet dog, people put shame on you for owning an pet  , you get lashed at for not liking a particular food item, you need to get married and have kids by the time you are 30, you’re not allowed to have friends of other races other than malayalee and last but not least, if you are in love with someone even if it is outside of your caste system, they no longer consider you a malayalee and will make you inferior..very wrong and stupid and can cause too many strains in family relationships, thus breaking up the family. Also shows that many do not understand that certain circumstances can happen and they may need to face the reality. Too many expectations is very bad, and if you are one who has way too many expectations where the person has to be perfect for marriage, well tough luck, it’s very unlikely you’ll ever get married. But there are many malayalees who are just wonderful and sweet people who can understand the feelings of others and respect their wishes regardless of what it is. The world is different today than what is was before and people’s views have changed about certain things, and the older generations need to realize that and accept it. I do prefer a malayalee only because I feel I can relate better to a mallu, but I really want someone born and brought up aboard, because from what I seen, marrying one from India will create dictatorship in your house hold where the wife will be severe depression and unhappy. But if there is someone there for me who is of another race/background and we both feel that can committ to marriage, I’ll happily accept it. There is nothing wrong with marrying an outsider in any circumstance. It has NOTHING to do with culture and ethnic identity. Pure love for someone and your heritage are two different things. Just because you marry an outsider does not mean you don’t respect your culture. You can still hold on to your culture, values etc while married to some one different. It will not do any harm at all! I have a relative who is married to a non Indian and they have been married for almost 6 years, have been blessed with a beautiful daughter and are expecting baby #2 this summer and just seem so happy. The non Indian is very good to his wife, and he is very respectful to our family and loves us just like his own. Sad thing is I have a few other relatives who are against him because of his race and probably don’t like him, (but that doesn’t matter because they are not very much liked anyway). And you know what, it’s ironic that some arranged marriages to other mallus for keeping the culture just shatter in pieces later on. Key is EVERYONE IS ENTITITLED TO THEIR OWN HAPPINESS NO MATTER WHAT RACE OR ETHNICITY. You are responsible to find what makes YOU happy, because you would only know, not anyone else. If you let others take over your control and force you some of these dumb rules, I guarantee you that you will be miserable to no end.
