Datuk Shah Rukh Khan? Where is Datuk Rajinikanth?
I LOLed to the max when I read the headlines in New Straits Times Online just now: It is Datuk Shah Rukh Khan. What the hell? What he did to our country in such a way that a “Datuk” title is being conferred to him? I may agree that he might have many Malay fans as well as some Indian and Chinese fans but does that makes up the core reason on why he should be conferred the “Datuk” title?
Bollywood idol Shah Rukh Khan is a Datuk. The heartthrob will be receiving his Datukship from the Malacca Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob in conjunction with his birthday tomorrow. Listed as an artiste from Dreamz Unlimited in the list of recipients, Shah Rukh will be receiving the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM).
He is among 77 recipients of the title.
Shah Rukh, 43, is a highly acclaimed Indian actor who works in Bollywood films, as well as film producer and television host. He has starred in several box-office movies and won awards throughout his career.

Any other Datuk’s that I may have missed?
I’m wondering, is Shah Rukh Khan aware that he is receiving that title?

WTF…… The dude Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob is out of mind or got hit his head somewhere? Guess he must be a big big fan of SRK…Isn’t Datukship is originally meant for senior, deserving citizens…CITIZENS.

Datukships are only useful in malaysia, helps you cut queue, get wht u want, talk as you like, commit crime and escape…once you step outside the country’s border, it becomes nothing. fact.
btw, i have bumped into Tun Khalil before (yes in real life) and hes a nice man. But i’m baffled as to why he is doing this…

I have no idea what SRK has made to Malaysia.Is he a multi billion investor in here?.Or is he a relative to Tun Mahathir?.Even so he never gave this bhaiya a datukship although he go around with him whenever he (SRK) comes to Malaysia?.

My Take:
Mahendran and Mohandas basically helped shout to the world tht Malaysia is in fact a country and it really exists somewhere below Thailand, north of Singapore and also has an extended territory near the Phillipines called Borneo. When they both placed the national flag on mt everest, tht was the first time billions of ppl around the world had ever seen such a flag. I’m glad they weren’t give Datukships. It makes their sacrifice to the nation even more ‘noble’. Its time to go back in time, read this ppl, i felt so proud to be an Indian and a Hindu when i read this:-

One 2 Ka 4 ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0227194/ ) was a movie which came out almost 7 years ago. They could remember one bloody song scene which lasted probably 4-5 minutes, but couldnt go 4 years back and recall the days of struggle of our Climbers where they defied death to announce the existence of malaysia. Nowadays in Malaysia the Datuk title is given lavishly.
The true purpose of conferring Datukship had inevitably lost.
It should be given to senior citizens who had dedicated their time and money contributing to the society.
Take the likes of Nicol David and Lee Chong Wei, whom are Datuks too.
It is not to say they don’t deserve this recognition, but what I personally consider is, for those who excels very well in sports or in any arts field and made a country proud should be given a different named title instead… for instance like “Puteraship/Puteriship”.
Besides, if a space participant could get the Datukship,
I find nothing wrong for SRK to receive it also…
And like you said, if SRK is been awarded the title,
so it should also to be given to Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mamooty, Vijaykanth, and etc, who equally deserves it too.
Even Jackie Chan is also a deserved one, isn’t he?
There are a lot of leaders capable to be awarded Datukship.. What the hell is going on in Malaysia??

ala, maybe the Khalil dude wanna see Shahrukh in person la. Shahrukh must have rejected his calls many times in the past due to busy schedules so Tok Khalid used this as a gimmick to see Shahrukh personally and maybe bhangra with him a bit after the ceremony
