Naked Indian girls to ‘beg’ for rain

PATNA, India (23/7/09) – Farmers in an eastern Indian state have asked their unmarried daughters to plough parched fields naked in a bid to embarrass the weather gods to bring some badly needed monsoon rain, officials said on Thursday. Witnesses said the naked girls in Bihar state ploughed the fields and chanted ancient hymns after sunset to invoke the gods. They said elderly village women helped the girls drag the ploughs.

“They (villagers) believe their acts would get the weather gods badly embarrassed, who in turn would ensure bumper crops by sending rains,” Upendra Kumar, a village council official, said from Bihar’s remote Banke Bazaar town.

“This is the most trusted social custom in the area and the villagers have vowed to continue this practice until it rains very heavily.” India this year suffered its worst start to the vital monsoon rains in eight decades, causing drought in some states.

 
Asking their daughters to go naked? Well, we have heard of an Indian girl marrying a frog and an Indian guy marrying a dog but asking one’s daugher(s) to go naked just for the sake of begging for ‘rain’ from the purported ‘rain god’ is simply fcuked up. Oh yeah, before talking about others, it’s better for us to have a look at our own backyard first.

Sigh, yeppe than ellam thirunthe poranggelo.

      Well said bro. See how embarrassing this piece of news is, and it’s real and it’s happening, in 2009.

      Exactly what happens when religious or spiritual matters is turned out and twisted to attract/suit each of us. I won’t be surprised since we already have some stupid blood drinking exercise going on here in Malaysia, maybe in the future it might be practiced to more like drinking sperm.

      I’m sure people around the world will have a good laugh when they read the reasoning behind why-the-girls-must-go-naked.

      And I wonder why not the guys go naked, it might irritate God more than girls anyway. Thui

      rain is god creations so these ppl don’t use their brain. in malaysia they have tried to seed the cloud so why don;t these ppl try these method.think bout the kids future.

      Whatever people post on this page is their opinion… who are we to comment or condemn…. each to his or her own opinion… why wanna use vulgar words… to me what durai said is less offending than what damien says…. please remember not everyone likes to use, hear or see vulgar words…. be it in any language…. stick to the topics and not condemn each other…. sad lah to see so call educated people getting pissed with each
