SJK(T) Pulau Carey Selatan Charity - The Story
So as you all may know, we have successfully executed our charity event on 22nd February 2010. Before I proceed any further, let me express my gratitude to all the donators who had donated more than enough to fund this charity, along with our readers and supporters for being a part of the backbone in organising this charity, directly and indirectly.
It was a bright day when brother Suren of Eyezmachi.com and myself drove all the way to the Banting road (via KESAS) and waited for brother Durai of RagedIndian.com, brother Sashi and brother Kannan at the side of the road. While driving, I thought to myself on how the hell I am going to face all the students and teachers at that school as I was having a flu on that day and my eyes were swollen due to being allergic to some fucked-up pills, thus being forced to wear a cooling glass. “Ah, mairachi..”. At least that gave me some confidence.
The journey was quite long in order to reach that school as we have to go through the estate road as seen in the following picture. By the time we arrived there, our cars were soaked in sand, dust and rock.

The moment we reached there, we quickly ask the teacher whether do the students want to have their ‘breakfirst’ first or should we segregate all the books and hand over to them. Instead of an answer, it was the teacher who asked us back the same question. Anyway, she suggested that it would be better to prepare the breakfast as the break time is nearing. Without hesitating, we prepared their breakfast, served the kids with a pack of meehoon and of course, a piece of chicken (KFC) for each of the kids. “Nandri anne” (Thanks brother) would be the common word that we could hear from those kids when we are serving them, something that we don’t get to hear all the time.

But wait, it was brother Durai’s birthday on that day and how could a birthday celebration go on without a cake? It was a surprise treat for brother Durai when brother Sashi announced to the kids and teachers that it was brother Durai’s birthday and there is a cake waiting for him. Moments later, brother Durai came to cut the cake and everyone was stunned for a moment, whether to sing the birthday song in English or in Tamil. I was about to tell to the crowd to sing in English when one of the teachers intervened and asked the kids to sing in Tamil. I was buta.com then. See the video below for a teaser of brother Durai’s birthday celebration:
After their break, brother Kannan took his time to capture some excellent shots of those kids, their expression, the environment and so on. Thanks to him that all the shots came out perfectly, not forgetting some pose that we gave. As for the food, there were many pieces of chicken that went untouched so we decided to give it to all the ‘aunties’ over there. They are like helpers in that school, monitoring all the kids and assisting when necessary.

Then finally, the time came for us to hand over all the books accordingly but we thought it would be best to give all the books in bulk to the respective class teachers as it would be easier for them to segregate those books. Oh yeah, we did gave them a mineral water dispenser as well since the school seems to be needing it badly. Finally, we were escorted to the ‘tapak perhimpunan’ where the kids expressed their gratitude and thanked us for our assistance. Well, thanks to you actually, our donators!
Lastly, it was time for us say goodbye and told those kids that we would come again for the sake of asking their examination results. We then proceeded to go to the “Kallu Thoppe” where we had an in-depth discussion regarding everything, including all our positive and negative commenters, regarding the other bloggers, future plans and so on. It was a great day indeed and we had so much of fun.
For those who might be wondering who is our official M1 photographer, you can check out more about him by clicking the photo below. Special thanks to you brother for all the wonderful shots.
Thanks to the rest of the M1 team.
