It is my way of expressing my dissatisfaction and objection of our government’s move in detaining P. Uthayakumar, M. Manoharan, R. Kenghadharan, V. Ganabatirau and T. Vasanthakumar under the draconian Internal Security Act (ISA) on 13th December 2007.
They have been fighting for our rights and pleading the government to stop the marginalization of Indians and hence, the price that was paid to them was “ISA”!

Now why is the Hindraf 5 so different? THEY WERE THERE when the poor were being trodden upon (estate workers). THEY WERE THERE when the basic rights to have a place of worship was being demolished (temples). And THEY WERE THERE when the marginalized were being chopped up (Kg. Medan). Just because they were fighting for the rights of Indians doesn’t mean that they deserve any less empathy, or which Malay or Chinese leaders are brave enough to stand for the rights of the marginalized Indians? Heck, which other Indian leader(s) had such a bold and fearless stand against those who oppress?
Don’t complain when the downtrodden had enough and tried to present their plight to the nation through a rally. And if these guys HAD NOT BEEN HERE, the rally would have happened anyway, perhaps in a more aggressive manner, maybe next year, or 5 years from now. The Indian community is an explosive keg of dynamite, brewing for decades. Indians need a unifying factor that will keep them in check, which I believe these guys genuinely are. They need a voice to channel their woes, which the government had effectively silenced. Let the HINDRAF leadership fight for the marginalized with posters of Gandhi and bouquets of roses.
The HINDRAF leaders are not terrorists. They are HUMAN RIGHT ACTIVISTS. Recognize them as they are, and not as the bogeymen of the government.

We are one not because of Samy Vellu or MIC this cause by our Hindraf Malaysia which make the Indians to wake up from sleeping. JAI HIND. Samy Vellu can cheat all the prime minister in India saying that we was paid USD 1000. the actual fact indians in Malaysia still getting salary below RM 600 (USD 180). but MIC leader are mentioning his family and relative and his close budy is receiving luxarious life. He can cheat and lie to anybody but not GOD. Soon will see the GOD of Creator will give him and oppurtunity to confess and it will reveal the truth as what the 5 heroes of Hindraf expalin in their claim. I am trying to spread the Free the 5! Campaign across all Indian Blogs. If someone here has contacts with non-Indian blogs, please pass the message around. I think its time we start something serious to release these guys. They must be wondering where are the people that they spoke for.
The least we can do is have bloggers pushing for this.

I am a Malaysian living in Canada, but my heart is always in Malaysia since the Hindraf have open up every Malaysian indian’s heart by telling the truth Indiansliving condition in our own motherland. But now they are ISA detainess!!But God is always great my frds! c what have happen in the recent election!im so glad now!i will be more GLAD if our Manoharan will be appointed as a deputy menteri besar in Selangor. Likewise, hope the opposition parties will appoint an Indian representative as a deputy menteri besar or deputy chief minister in the other states that they have won as said by our Waythamoorthy in Malaysiakini.

It is utterly ludicrous to accuse the Umno-led government of embarking upon the “ethnic cleansing” of the Indian community. Is there an organised, systematic attempt on the part of the state to eliminate the Indian minority, which is what “ethnic cleansing” is all about? Do Hindraf leaders even understand the term and what it implies?
By the same token, how can one talk of the marginalisation of the entire Indian community? While it is true that 2.9 per cent of Indian households live below the poverty-line (the national average is 5.7 per cent), aren’t Indians well represented in the middle and upper echelons of society? They constitute 11.5 per cent of the professional and managerial class, which is above the percentage of the Indian population in the country, which stands at eight per cent.
For a community that does not command a majority in any parliamentary or state constituency in the country, Indians are not only members of parliament and state assemblies but also occupy places in the federal government and in most state executive councils (state cabinets).
They are executive council members even in those states where the Indian component is less than five per cent of the population. Would a government that is bent on marginalising and cleansing Indians accord such a significant role — in relation to its population percentage — to the community in national and state politics?
If the government pursued a goal as diabolical as ethnic cleansing, would the principal language of the Indian Malaysian community, namely Tamil, be a medium of instruction in the government-managed national primary school system? Would Tamil be a language medium in the public broadcasting system? Would Deepavali, the main religious festival of Indian Hindus, be observed as a national holiday?
Would a community that has been completely marginalised and is threatened with ethnic cleansing be able to practise its religion and its culture in relative peace and harmony?
If Hindus are facing annihilation, how does one explain the glaring fact that in the state of Selangor, on a per capita basis, there are more Hindu temples than mosques and surau put together? The total Hindu-Indian population in the state is about one-quarter of the total Malay-Muslim population.

At the rate the ruling government is conducting herself, its just a matter of time before the whole country goes to the opposition. So don’t worry…..they can oppress and suppress with all their draconian laws but they cannot subdue our feelings. We have been on our knees for far too long. Indians had been very2 patient & tolerance all tis years. Tats why we indians were treated like slaves here in Malaysia. Tks to Hindraf & Makkal Sakti we had proved tat we can also unite as bros & sisters & show our true sakti to tis cruel umno lead goverment which also includes d monsterous Samy Velooo . I pray the Hindraf 5 will be released soon. They have become the leaders of the indians without an election. I hope DAP and PKR will do something. I trust Karpal Singh will do it.
Instead of blaming anybody our elected reps must work out schemes that will benefit the poor indians. Education must be given top priority. Than job and business opportunities. Action units must be set up in each state so that the indians can go to for advice and information. Internet is a good form of unit but a lot of indians are computer illitrate. Something must be done to stop the indian youth going into gangsterism and alcoholism. School dropouts must immediately sent for vocasional training. I hope our newly elected reps will do all these instead of opening universities that are not even in the reach of the poor indians.

im buvaneswary wife of Ganabatirau who has been detained under ISA due to is involvement in Hindraf. We have failed to bring them out by Habeas Corpus. I urge Indias all over the world dont give up.. pray and keep on praying. I believe my hubby together with all other 4 leaders will be out in a very near future.
