Here we come! - MIC Youths

It seems that MIC Youth leaders had made a gigantic plan to go on a one-week nationwide tour to explain the problems and issues affecting the Indian community.

According to its chief, S.A Vigneswaran, he “thought” that the explanations were necessary so that the Indian community would know what the government and MIC are actually doing to resolve their problems. Without mentioning what are the problems that would be raised during the community ‘chit-chat’, he accidentally expressed that :

“We in the MIC do not want Indians to cast protest votes in the next general election. We want the community to continue to support Barisan.”

So, what is the real motive behind this nationwide tour? There are two options to be exact, one, to garner votes by giving false promises and hopes and second, to garner votes by showing some sympathy! (Indians are good at this!)

PoliceWatchMalaysia.com …. blocked?

Well, it is confirmed that 11 websites had been blocked, including the website which monitors the movement and activities of HINDRAF (Hindu Rights Action Force), PoliceWatchMalaysia.com.

Previously, the same blocking massacre had been carried out by Securities Commission (SC) and Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in blocking access to illegal investment scam sites, and certainly, these dudes would had blocked this PoliceWatchMalaysia site and 10 other websites as well. I’m not sure what were the 10 other websites that had been blocked but one thing for sure, we are losing our ‘freedom of speech’ in this cyberspace world!

Chanru had suggested the usage of proxy to access those blocked sites, and I would suggest the same too. There are many type of proxies available on the net, one being free web-based proxy, free proxy server to be used with internet browsers, tunneling softwares such as HTTP-Tunnel and so on.

Here are some proxy sites that might be handy for you:

Free them, urged New York-based Human Rights Watch!

New York-based Human Rights Watch called on the Malaysian government to release the five leaders from the Hindu Rights Action Force currently being held under the draconian Internal Security Act, a draconian law that “has long been used against peaceful political and rights activists”.

“Holding Hindraf leaders under the ISA is an attempt to frighten into silence a minority community concerned about its rights,” said Elaine Pearson, deputy Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “If laws were broken, then the offenders should be charged and properly tried, not detained indefinitely.”

Kuala Lumpur on December 13 arrested Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders P. Uthayakumar, M. Manoharan, V. Ganabatirau, R. Kenghadharan, and T. Vasanthakumar under the ISA. Hindraf protests what they believe to be discriminatory government economic policies against Malaysia’s Indian population. A mass demonstration was held on November 25 in Kuala Lumpur, drawing about 20,000 people to the street. Kuala Lumpur police did not issued a permit for the rally.

It’s really sickening to see Friendster updating their filtration system over and over again. This time, I seriously hope that this piece of XSS crap would last quite long (at least!).

HINDRAF.org

HINDRAF.org, a side dedicated to the Hindu Rights Action Force movement had been online for quite some time and many people are not aware of it. This site might serve as a mirror for PoliceWatchMalaysia in getting more information and news regarding the movement and its activities whilst waiting to be officialised. (Source HERE)

Our PM is ‘pitying’ those 31 arrested HINDRAF protesters!

Source : HERE

Well, how pathetic it is to see our de facto leader ‘pitying’ those 31 arrested HINDRAF protesters, and the best part is, he ‘pitied’ them after the consultation with various groups, NGOs and not to forget, Uncle Sam. Why can’t he pity them earlier, at the time of arrest or the next day after the arrest took place?

This situation can be depicted as, caging a bunch of monkeys just because a banana had gone missing, and later on, releasing them from their respective cages under the name of ‘pity’.

It looks like for every decision to be made or taken, our PM had to undergo a ‘consultation period’ with various groups, NGOs and certain ministers in order for him to understand the real situation. So, what’s next? Another consultation just to ensure our PM would ‘pity’ those 5 HINDRAF leaders detained under ISA?

ISA’ed for two years!

PETALING JAYA: Five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders have been arrested and detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

The five are P. Uthayakumar, M. Manoharan, R. Kenghadharan, V. Ganabatirau and T. Vasanthakumar. They were picked up at various locations in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Seremban.

It is learnt they were detained under Section 8 (1) of the ISA after Internal Security Minister Datuk Seri Abdulah Ahmad Badawi signed their detention order.

Their detention is for two years.

Uthayakumar and two others namely Ganabatirau and P. Waythamoorthy were charged under the Sedition Act on Nov 23 in Klang 23 for allegedly making speeches to incite hatred at a gathering in Batang Berjuntai, Selangor, on Nov 16. Waythamoorthy is currently overseas.

Under Section 73 (1) of the ISA, the police can detain any individual for up to 60 days without a warrant, trial and without access to legal counsel if he was suspected to have “acted or is about to act or is likely to act in any manner prejudicial to the security of Malaysia or any part thereof or to maintenance of essential services therein or to the economic life thereof.”

After 60 days, the Minister of Home Affairs can extend the period of detention without trial for up to two years, without submitting any evidence for review by the courts, by issuing a detention order, which is renewable indefinitely.
